love love love

Today is my 6 year wedding anniversary and it is the first time that I won't be spending it with my husband.

I loved our wedding!!! It was so simple and laid back and suited us just fine. We had a potluck affair with about a 120 guests and I walked down the isle to Bob Marley's 'Is this Love' - it was perfect!!! Of course there are always things you'd like to go back and tweak, but on the whole I loved our day.

So while I'm sad that he's not here and wishing that we could spend the day together, we were lucky enough to go out and celebrate when he was home. It was actually a trip down watery lane, as we took the water taxi from April Point to Painter's Lodge and had dinner up at the pub. 12 years earlier we took the same route from Painter's to the island the first time he came to Quadra to go to the Mayday dance. Ah, the memories.

So Happy Anniversary to my love, my best friend, and the most amazing man that I know - I love you!!!!

Weed free!!!

A lot has happened in the garden since I was on here last, but I just had to make sure that I put up an updated picture of the veggie bed. It looked pretty bad in my last garden blog and now all the weeds are gone!!! Yay!!! Took a little doing to get them all, but it's done!! (Actually, this was done over a month ago, but it's taken me this long to blog about it!!) Now we just need to get the veggies in there and we'll be set!! Can't wait!!! I'm hoping to make my own salsa this year with mainly ingredients grown by us - so tomatoes, a few different types of peppers, jalapenos, and herbs :) And of course there will be bruschetta too - mmmmm, we love bruschetta!!!

Veggie bed all weeded - those are the strawberries at the farthest end

Raking out the dirt. My little man was very into helping his Daddy with the rake...

...going for a 'ride' here it looks like. But either way he sure enjoys helping :)

Well it's your day Mom's...hope that you're being treated to an extra special day - breakfast in bed, no chores, time with your loved ones, or whatever it is that makes you happy on this day :)

I'm pretty lucky. I get to spend the day with my most favorite little man in the entire world and then will share part of the day with my Mom as well.

But happy happy love and joy to all of the Mom's out there - enjoy!!!

Good Times!!!!

My good friend M turned 30 on the weekend and to help her celebrate the two of us left our kids with their grandma's and went to town to indulge ourselves!!
The day started with coffee with friends, then followed by a little shopping and lunch and then we were off for pedicures!! Let me tell you, if you ever want to enjoy a little piece of heaven, go and have a pedicure at Eden Street Spa - OMG!!! It was fantastic!! The chairs we sat in had massage rollers and it was so nice getting our feet primped and rubbed and prettied up.

The two of us with our feet soaking

Our beautiful toes :)

After our pedicures, we made a quick stop at the scrapbooking store before heading to our favorite sushi place for dinner...

Mmmmmm, green tea....

And sushi!!!!

Good Friends :)

So thank you for the fabulous day M, it was amazing and a very Happy 30th Birthday to you!!! It was so nice to see you and to get all the wonderful visits!!!

Garden Progress

Hello, did you miss me?? Haha, probably not. But here I am :) I can't even remember when I blogged last, but it feels like it was forever ago since I posted on here. My excuse?? I have been busy gardening. Now that the days are warmer and the sun seems to be shining more, I have been finding myself more and more outside and I just love it.The other day we were out there and put in a little pathway and today my husband built a little fence to keep the little man and his Tonka truck OUT of the garden. He has recently decided what a great game it is to stomp on Mommy's lilies and iris's. So wasn't impressed with that one. But now he is out and my flowers are safe!!

Little Lilacs well on their way

Pathway through the garden and our new solar lights

I still need to finish weeding and re-defining the veggie bed, but my flower beds are sure starting to look nice. As you can see from the picture below, there are still a lot of 'lost' pots in our veggies patch, along with weeds that still need to be pulled, but it is coming along. A work in progress. So exciting!!!!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!!!

'Tis the season!!! And no, I don't mean Christmas. I'm referring to something that is just as magical and lasts for way longer. Have you figured it out yet?? I'll just end the suspense and tell you...tis the season for....

GARDENING!!!! Yes, that's right - gardening!!! I love gardening and that's what we were outside doing today. It was so nice to be out in the sunshine pulling up the weeds and tidying up the beds!!! There's still a long way to go until all the weeds are pulled and things actually look 'good', but it's a start.

Beautiful yellow crocus

Front bed - not much to look at yet, but you can see the rich dark soil beneath the weeds now!!!

Lots of Iris's on their way!!

Can you see the lilies popping up to say hello?? Can't wait for these!!

So here is to the most wonderful time of the year!!!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)
