I have been thinking...

The name of my blog is Outrageous Orbab, but I am not really that outrageous...perhaps I should find another 'o' name that is more fitting for my blog??

What do you think?

So excited!!!

Once upon a time a friend of mine lent me a book on finances and getting out of debt and all that fun stuff. However she also sent a few other books along with that one and to be honest I never got around to reading it so it went back home with her. That seems like forever ago now and nothing has changed in my world financially.

Recently I reread a wonderful fluff book (fluff books are those that are easy reads that you could polish off in just a couple of hours if you want to) and despite the rather easy-goingness of it, I found myself feeling slightly uneasy about some of the similarities (Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella if you're interested. I just love her books. So much fun to read and just a really good little read. I've actually been reading a lot of her books lately.) Anyways...

This past week my Visa bill came in this mail and instead of just paying the standard amount like I always do, I decided to open it up and see what it had to say and I was appalled. There in the sidelines was the horror that if I kept on just paying the minimum amount every month it would take me 49 years to pay off my Visa.
49 YEARS!!!!!
I couldn 't believe it!!!! So needless to say I decided right then and there that something had to change.
And now I have a plan :) A very very good plan. And it's funny because I'm following guidelines from the very lady who wrote the book that my friend lent me in the first place.
But I am SO excited!!! It feels good to have a plan and for things to hopefully be significantly better if not resolved in 3 years rather than 49!!! Can you even imagine, 49 years to pay off a Visa bill???!!!?!?!?!!! No way!!!

Tree Hugger

Well it was a nice winter's day and we went for a walk at the spit. The sun was out (although it wasn't around for long) and it was so nice to get out and get some fresh air. As we were going along, I thought it would be cute for the little guy to hug a tree. Well little did I know that it would become some big thing...

Before you knew it, he was hugging EVERY tree!!!

It didn't matter what size the tree was, he tried to get his little arms around them all!!!

This one gave him a bit of trouble, but was still able to give it a little snuggle ;)

Awesome awesome awesome

I went to Nanaimo to visit a friend the other day and had a marvelous time!! While I was there I had the luxury to go out and see a movie. I can't even remember the last time I went to the movies and when I try and conjure up the last movie I did see, Sex and the City is what keeps coming to mind and if the really was the last time I went then wow, very sad. But I left baby with Grandma and my friend K and I went out on the town for a little shopping and a movie. What we ended up seeing was the amazing and fantastically brilliant Black Swan, and it has been on my mind ever since!!! It was awesome and I loved it!!! I thought Natalie Portman was phenomenal (despite the skin and bones look she was sporting) and to be honest it was really great to see Mila Kunis in a role other than Jackie on that 70's show. So ya, I really enjoyed it. Have you seen it? If so, what did you think?

Have you seen this bed???

Well not literally this bed, but the bedding.
I think it was a few months ago, although I can't be quite sure, but I found this picture in a flyer. I saw it and immediately fell in love with it. I love bold prints like that and you can't go wrong with that color green ;)
Anyways, I decided that I was buying myself a new shower curtain and thought while I was in town I would see if I could find the bedding I wanted. Well, do you think I could find it?? I have looked at the store, online, through the designer's website - nothing!!! It's as if this set doesn't even exist!!! So frustrating!! It's probably from last season or something, but how annoying!!!

It happened

So I have already fallen off the wagon.
I had the brilliant idea that I would put new sheets on my bed every Sunday. I almost forgot the week before last to do it but lucky for me, one of my cats puked on the bed so I was forced to not only change my sheets but my quilt as well. YUCK!!!! However, I had no such reminder this past Sunday (thankfully) and here we are at Wednesday already and I still haven't changed my sheets yet.
Is that gross??
How often should one change their sheets??
At least it's just me sleeping in them and most nights I have a bath before bed, but I should probably put the new ones on at some point today...right?? Because it's probably gross to have sheets on your bed for 2 weeks?? Who knows. I'm just glad that I didn't make some really big important resolution to cure world hunger or something like that, because that's usually what happens with resolutions. You have all these great intentions and things start off great for a week or two, and if you're lucky even longer, and then poof, you fall off the wagon. Just. Like. That.

Patch Works!!!!

And I mean just that - the patch works!!!

For the past 6 months or so we have been patching the little gaffer's stronger eye (his right one) with a patch for around 2 hours a day to allow the weaker eye, his left, to get stronger. Sometimes we are only able to do it for an hour or less and sometimes unable to do it at all if. But for the most part manage to get at least and hour and a half to two hours in most days and it has obviously worked!!! We had an appointment with the eye Dr. the other day and sure enough, the little gaffer's left eye has improved a little bit and he now has a lesser prescription on the left side. The patch works!!! So exciting :)
